Progress on omgAWW

The other day, my friend Caleb registered a domain for me. The domain? http://omgaww.com. We are going to automatically grab cute animal pictures from le internet and add them to our own database. We’ll serve the pages up and slap ads on them. Maybe enough money will trickle in to let us buy a milkshake or two.

Tonight, after work, I experimented with using CURL to retrieve some images automatically. I’ve got a script set up that runs every 30 minutes, querying Reddit for a list of relevant images. I have yet to determine what information we’ll be storing in the database, so right now I’m just saving the data to my web server and the intent is to parse them later once I know the data I need to save.

It’s after midnight now. I’ve got work in the morning. I should get some rest.

Why MTV Doesn’t Air Music Videos Anymore

I don’t have a ton to add, aside from the fact that I think this video is made rather well. I like the use of logic to answer an oft-repeated question, and the over-the-top sarcasm works to the video’s advantage.

If you’re offended by bad words, you probably shouldn’t watch it.

Blocked

I am stuck with this treatment, and not sure how to fix it. The sciencey nerd guy doesn’t really seem to have a point aside from filling in the exposition. Until I get it figured out, I am going to be taking a break from writing.
